Priority Issue: Electrical Service

Goal: To Ensure that the electrical transmission infrastructure is adequate for business expansion and growth in southwest Oklahoma.

·          Host and facilitate a Southwest Oklahoma Electric service symposium.

·          Conduct research and perform gap analysis.

·          Share results with service providers and major customers to include business and industrial.

Lead Institution: Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG)

Business owners were asked to evaluate electrical service as a part of the eSynchronist surveys conducted by the Front Line Team since April, 2005 . Overall, electrical service was ranked very high with only a few businesses reporting any difficulties with power surges or interruptions.

SOIC has decided to include a study of electrical transmission systems as a part of our 2007-2009 Strategic Plan simply because of the importance of ensuring that the transmission infrastructure is adequate for future growth in the region. In fact, the symposium was a suggestion from one of the service providers .

Our goal? Making sure our region is poised for success when the opportunity presents itself!
