Top Priority: Intermodal Transportation

Developing a regional transportation plan is vital to the southwest Oklahoma economy, our communities and our lives. A plan of this magnitude will serve as a blueprint that guides investments in the region's transportation system to encourage growth, reduce congestion and advance regional policies, public priorities and local economic development efforts.

Never before have the cities, counties and tribal governments of southwest Oklahoma come together In an organized and united effort to identify and promote transportation priorities. A few of our larger communities have identified their most pressing needs, however no effort has been made to "connect-the-dots, " nor have we developed the necessary clout to move a regional agenda forward.

The regional plan will provide us with a collective vision linking each community's unique economic, commercial, social and cultural needs and advantages. The planning cannot occur in a vacuum or behind closed doors -It will be necessary to engage chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and city, county and tribal governments in the development of each layer of the plan.

We welcome your input and participation in this important Southwest Oklahoma Impact Coalition initiative.
